As required under NCLB regulations, Whitehall City Schools is posting required information on Public School Choice and Supplemental Education Services.
Whitehall City Schools currently has three Title I buildings identified in School Improvement status. Beechwood Elementary is in School Improvement Year 5. Kae Avenue Elementary School is in School Improvement Year 4. Rosemore Middle School is in School Improvement Year 5.
Students attending the two elementary schools (Beechwood Elementary and Kae Avenue Elementary) were offered the opportunity to attend Etna Road Elementary within the district. Students were also permitted to transfer to a community school. Students attending Rosemore Middle School were offered the opportunity to attend a district with an open enrollment policy such as Columbus City Schools as well as to transfer to a community school.
In 2008-2009 and 2009-2010, Whitehall City Schools had no students request Public School Choice. In 2010-2011, Whitehall had 5 students from Beechwood request Public School Choice, 4 students from Kae Avenue Elementary request Public School Choice and 0 students from Rosemore request Public School Choice.
Because all three of the buildings are beyond School Improvement Year 1, Whitehall City Schools is required to offer Supplemental Education Services(SES) or free tutoring. Students were offered two opportunities to sign-up for services during the 2010-2011 school year. Beechwood had 2 students receive SES, Kae Avenue had 16 students receive SES. Rosemore had 9 students receive SES. A list of SES providers can be obtained at Administrative Services.
Whitehall City Schools has set aside funds from the district Title I allocation during the 2010-2011 school year for transportation of students who chose Public School Choice and for Supplemental Education Services.
